The UAE is advancing a defining energy milestone with the accelerated development of the West-East Pipeline, a flagship infrastructure initiative designed to double ADNOC’s export capacity through Fujairah. Currently under construction, the pipeline is expected to become operational in 2027, reinforcing the nation’s position as a premier global energy hub.

Resilience Amid Uncertainty

The decision to accelerate the project was taken following a high-level meeting of the ADNOC executive committee, chaired by Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi.

During the meeting, he commended ADNOC for its resilience in maintaining safe operations during the recent period of regional uncertainty while continuing to ensure reliable energy supply to both domestic and global markets.

The UAE’s Eastern Export Powerhouse

A central pillar of the pipeline strategy is the expansion of export capacity through Fujairah. The project will:

  • Double ADNOC’s crude export capacity via Fujairah

  • Enhance access to international maritime shipping routes

  • Strengthen supply chain security and route diversification

  • Reduce reliance on congested regional chokepoints

This positions Fujairah as a premium strategic export corridor, further elevating the UAE’s global energy influence.

Expanding Industrial Value

In parallel, progress continues on the TA’ZIZ Phase 1 chemicals ecosystem in Al Ruwais Industrial City, located in the Al Dhafra Region. This large-scale industrial initiative is designed to produce 4.7 million tonnes per annum of industrial chemicals by 2028, supporting key sectors including construction, automotive, packaging and consumer goods.

Strategic partnerships, including collaboration with Alpha Dhabi, reinforce the development of a diversified and resilient downstream industrial ecosystem. Long-term agreements announced at Make it in the Emirates 2026 further underline strong investor confidence in the platform’s future.

Strengthening National Value

The leadership also reaffirmed the importance of ADNOC’s In-Country Value (ICV) programme, which plays a critical role in driving domestic economic growth, empowering local businesses and strengthening supply chains.

A key directive was issued to prioritise Made in the Emirates products across all major projects and operations, reinforcing the UAE’s commitment to industrial self-sufficiency.

A New Era of Energy Excellence

As the West-East Pipeline progresses toward its 2027 completion, it stands as a cornerstone of the UAE’s evolving energy architecture. By doubling export capacity through Fujairah, strengthening industrial ecosystems and expanding global connectivity, the nation is positioning itself at the forefront of next-generation energy leadership.
