Upcoming Auctions at Christie's

The Dubai Museum of Art (DUMA) is all set to become the newest icon in the city.

The highly anticipated museum will quite literally float on water — being housed on an island atop the Dubai Creek. Designed by Pritzker Architecture Prize-winning Tadao Ando, the pearl and sea- inspired landmark will total five storeys, and feature adaptable exhibition galleries, support spaces, a restaurant and a VIP lounge. Beyond its exhibitions, the museum will also host artist talks, panel discussions, educational programmes and art fairs.

“Culture and art are the soul of a city and a lens through which its progress is seen,” said Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the U.A.E. Being the first international auction house to open an office in Dubai, Christie’s has seen the city’s art scene blossom. In honour of the DUMA announcement, we take a look at selected Christie’s auctions in the near future that essay Sheikh Mohammed’s idea of culture and art as soul.
