Christie's Starts Auction Season With Geneva Sales

The luxury auction season at Christie’s kicked off in style with sales exceeding CHF 81 million (approximately AED 360 million) at a bespoke auction in Geneva.

Leading the way was Magnificent Jewels, with a Deep Blue diamond mounted by Boucheron achieving a stunning CHF 10.64 million (AED 47.31 million), which translates to a world-record price-per-carat value. A Bouquet of Gems: A Superb Collection of Jewels by JAR soared to three times its estimate, totalling CHF 5.9 million (AED 26.23 million) with a diamond Apricot Blossom bangle the standout at approximately CHF 2.374 million (AED 10.56 million).

Rare Watches also captivated enthusiasts, with strong demand for independent watchmakers, coveted neo-vintage models and pieces by such celebrated brands as Richard Mille and Cartier. The lot also marked 50 glorious years of dedicated watch auctions at Christie’s.

The remarkable results herald the start of a spring season that will see auctions across major luxury hubs including Dubai, London and New York, covering the world’s most coveted watches, wines, handbags and jewels. Bidding is now open for the upcoming Jewels Online: The London Edit, which offers a curated selection of antique and contemporary designs from 19th-century jewels to signed pieces from Bulgari, Cartier and Van Cleef & Arpels.

Hot on its heels is Christie’s Luxury Week being held from 22nd to 29th May at The Henderson in Hong Kong — home to the Asia-Pacific headquarters of Christie’s. These sales will feature exceptional single-owner collections including Iconic Wines from Joseph Lau Part III, as well as over 200 iconic handbags and accessories from Hermès, Chanel and Louis Vuitton. Spectacular jewels headlined by The Regent Kashmir will also be on offer, as will coveted watches by Rolex, F.P.Journe and more.

Christie’s International Real Estate Ras Al Khaimah will also be participating with a showcase of Fairmont Residences Al Marjan Island. The highly anticipated collection of 523 units is part of the multi-billion dirham Ardee Al Marjan in Ras Al Khaimah and counts Christie’s International Real Estate Ras Al Khaimah as its Lead Master Agency.
